Commander James D. Taylor, Jr., graduated from the University of Georgia in 1952, and was subsequently commissioned an Ensign at the Naval Officer’s Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island. He was ordered to USS MACON (CA 132), where he served in the Gunnery Department.

Commander Taylor has been Operations officer of USS BRUSH (DD 745), Executive Officer of USS OBSERVER (MSO 461), and Commanding Officer of USS LOYALTY (MSO 457). He has also had tours of staff duty, and duty under instruction, most recently at the Armed Forces Staff College.

Commander is married to the former Miss Betty Jameson of Racine, Wisconsin. They have two girls, Elizabeth Ann and Melinda Mary.
