Bath Iron Works 1941

USS Taylor was one of 30 Fletcher Class Destroyers built at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine during World War II. At peak production, BIW turned out a destroyer every 17 days to meet the demands of a two-ocean war. Many of the Bath-built Fletchers were assigned to the fabled destroyer Squadron 21, whose exploits in the Pacific made it the most decorated squadron of World War II. Bath Iron Works, founded in 1884, still builds ships for the U.S. Navy.
