1957 Operation Dominic 1963
During deployments to the western Pacific, USS TAYLOR conducted training exercises and made goodwill visits to Far Eastern ports. She visited Australia for the celebration commemorating the victory at the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942. Returning to Pearl Harbor on 26 May 1960, the escort destroyer conducted normal operations and entered the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard in December for a major overhaul before deploying to the western Pacific in August 1961.
TAYLOR spent the spring and summer of 1962 in the mid Pacific as a support unit for Operation Dominic, nuclear tests conducted in the upper atmosphere. In October, she began a repair period and was reverted to the classification of destroyer and re-designated DD 468 on 7 August 1962.
